Yamaha DTX-6 Series Electronic Drumkits

Last November Yamaha launched the brand new DTX-6 Series of Electronic Drum Kits, and now that there has been time for the dust to settle, let’s take a look at what is on offer.

The DTX-6 Series is presented in 3 configurations, each driven by the all new DTX PRO sound module and boasting an array of upgraded pad features.

DTX PRO MODULE

Inspired by the brilliant Yamaha EAD10, the DTX PRO hosts an impressive 40 Pre-set drum kits comprising some 700 individual sounds, (including old favourites as well as some funky new effects), whilst also allowing storage for another 200 user kits.

All of this aside it is the “Kit Modifier” feature that is really turning heads, giving the player the option to alter Ambience, Compression and Effect levels with the turn of a dial!

Other key features include 37 Training Songs, and another 10 Training Functions. The DTX PRO is also compatible with Yamaha’s awesome Rec N Share App, as well as giving you the option to record yourself and playback at will.

At the top of the range is the DTX6K3-X, which features Yamaha’s TCS pads (Textured Cellular Silicone), 8” Snare and 7” Toms and a brand new 7.5” super responsive KP90 kick Drum Pad.

As you would expect on a kit of this calibre, the DTX6K3-X is also packing quality in the cymbal department with 3 x triple Zone 13” pads providing 2 crashes and a ride. A 13” Vertical Motion Hi Hat pad (mounted on a Traditional floor standing hi hat stand) complete the package.

DTX6K2-X

Next in line in the DTX6 series is the DTX6K2-X, which boasts the same configuration and many of the same features as the DTX6K3-X, which the major exception being the 3 Tom Pads revert to the TP70 rubber model.

DTX6K-X

The base model of the series is the DTX6K-X, with the same TCS snare, TP70 tom combination as the DTX6K2-X, however this model is equipped with only the one 10” crash cymbal and a 10” rack mounted Hi Hat pad, with separate hi hat Controller foot pedal.

Regardless of which configuration suits you, there is no doubt that the “Next Level” connectivity of the DTX PRO, accompanied by a fantastic range of sounds, make the DTX6 series the ideal choice for both the home studio and live performance environment
