Founded in 1989, Coleman’s Music is a family-owned music store that serves musicians across Victoria and Australia. With two retail locations in Melbourne, Lynbrook, and an online store for music lovers across Australia - we serve everyone, from aspiring to professional musicians.
At Coleman’s Music, we’re proud to be a store for all musicians. Whether you’re just starting or you’ve been playing for decades, everyone is welcome in our store. We stock a comprehensive range of musical instruments, accessories, print music, gifts, and more. Our friendly staff are always happy to help with advice and suggestions, so you can feel confident whenever you shop with us.
Visit us in Lynbrook (5 Raylee Place) or in the Melbourne CBD (105 Elizabeth Street) to browse our products or have a chat with our team. If you’re outside of Victoria, you can find our complete selection of musical instruments on our website.
More than 30 years ago, owners Michael and Roslynn Coleman purchased an organ shop in Cranbourne and opened our first store, known as Cranbourne Music. At that time, we offered a basic selection of second-hand gear and affordable items, as well as a small music school for local students.
Over the next few years, we continued expanding and establishing our presence in the Victorian music community. We began hosting regular events at our Cranbourne shop, including our annual 32 Hour Sale, busking competitions, and a Christmas concert for our music school.
In 1992, oldest son Ryan Coleman began a sales role at Cranbourne Music, becoming the second generation to join the family business. Later, his siblings Tim and Amber would also join the company, so all five Coleman family members were part of the business.
Ten years later, in 2002, Cranbourne Music opened its second store on La Trobe Street in Melbourne’s CBD. Fifteen years later, it would move to its current home on Elizabeth Street.
After the original Cranbourne store closed in 2016, we opened our 800-square-metre showroom in Lynbrook. The shop is one of the largest musical instrument retail stores in the country, offering a vast range of guitars, pianos, drums, and much more.
The name change to Coleman's Music.
In 2021, over 30 years after opening as Cranbourne Music, the company’s name was changed to Coleman’s Music store to honour Michael Coleman, the founder of the business. Despite the name change, the company continues to provide the same friendly service and extensive selection of top-quality musical instruments and accessories.
