BOSS Guitar Pedals

Legendary effects used by guitarists around the world.

BOSS pedals are some of the most recognised guitar effects ever made. Known for their durability, reliability and distinctive sound, BOSS pedals have been trusted by musicians for decades in studios, rehearsal rooms and on stages worldwide.

From the classic DS-1 Distortion to modern digital delays and compact multi-effects units, BOSS continues to design pedals that are simple to use, built to last and capable of delivering great guitar tones.

At Colemans Music in South Melbourne, we focus primarily on the iconic BOSS Compact Pedal series, along with selected BOSS multi-effects processors that offer powerful sounds in a compact format.

The Famous BOSS Compact Pedals

The BOSS Compact series is one of the most successful guitar pedal designs in history.

Introduced in the late 1970s, these pedals quickly became industry standards thanks to their:

• rugged metal enclosures
• reliable footswitch design
• consistent sound quality
• simple, intuitive controls

Many guitarists build entire pedalboards around BOSS compact pedals because they are dependable, easy to replace and widely used by professional musicians.

Popular BOSS Pedals

Some of the most widely used BOSS pedals include:

DS-1 Distortion

One of the most famous distortion pedals ever made. Known for its bright, cutting distortion sound that works well for rock and alternative styles.

These processors are popular with players who want access to multiple sounds without building a large pedalboard.

Popular compact multi-effects units include:

• BOSS ME Series

Here are a few of the most popular BOSS pedals ever produced.

BOSS DS-1 Distortion

First released in 1978, the DS-1 Distortion remains one of the best-selling guitar pedals of all time.

It delivers a bright, aggressive distortion that works well for rock, alternative and punk styles. Its simple three-knob control layout makes it easy to dial in usable tones quickly.

The DS-1 has been used by many famous players and remains a common first distortion pedal for guitarists building their first pedalboard.

BOSS SD-1 Super OverDrive

The SD-1 Super OverDrive is a classic overdrive pedal known for its warm mid-range and smooth clipping.

Many players use the SD-1 to:

• push a tube amplifier into natural overdrive
• add sustain to lead tones
• tighten up high-gain amplifiers

It has been a favourite of blues, rock and metal guitarists for decades.

BOSS DD Digital Delay Series

The BOSS DD series helped define digital delay for guitar players.

Delay pedals from the DD series are commonly used for everything from subtle ambience to rhythmic echo effects.

• adding width to guitar tones

BOSS TU Series Tuners

Although not an effect, the BOSS TU tuner pedals are among the most widely used stage tuners available.

Their bright displays and rugged construction make them reliable tools for both rehearsals and live performance.

Many pedalboards begin with a BOSS tuner because of its accuracy and durability.
