PRELOVED BOSS WL-50 Guitar Wireless System

Good preloved condition. Fully tested and working properly.

The BOSS WL-50 Wireless System is a brilliantly simple way to add wireless freedom to an existing guitar pedalboard without completely changing your setup.

The receiver is roughly stompbox-sized and sits at the beginning of your pedal chain just like another pedal. Plug the transmitter into your guitar and the WL-50 automatically establishes the optimum wireless connection, giving you up to 20 metres of line-of-sight range with ultra-low 2.3ms latency.

No complicated menus, channel scanning or separate belt pack. It's designed to feel as close as possible to plugging your guitar into the board with a conventional cable.

Made for Your Pedalboard

This is where the WL-50 really makes sense compared with simpler plug-in wireless systems.

The receiver is designed specifically to become part of your pedalboard. Your guitar signal enters wirelessly and the standard 1/4" output connects directly to the first pedal in your chain.

There's also a regular 1/4" input, so if you want to use a conventional guitar cable instead, you can leave the WL-50 on your board and simply plug straight into it.

Just Dock, Connect & Play

BOSS has made the setup process particularly straightforward.

Place the WL-T transmitter into the receiver's built-in dock and the system automatically establishes the wireless connection. When the WL-50 is powered by a compatible BOSS PSA-S adaptor, the dock also charges the transmitter.

The transmitter's rechargeable battery provides up to approximately 12 hours of continuous playing time, with a full charge taking around three hours.

One important detail: the receiver must be powered by a PSA-S adaptor to charge the transmitter from the dock. The transmitter can also be charged separately through its Micro-USB connection.

Cable Tone Simulation

Going wireless can sometimes make passive guitar pickups sound slightly brighter because you've removed the capacitance of a conventional guitar cable.

BOSS addresses this with its Cable Tone switch.

You can select:

  • SHORT for the character of a shorter guitar cable
  • LONG for a slightly warmer response similar to a longer cable
  • OFF to bypass the cable simulation

It's a small feature, but a useful one if you're used to the way your guitar interacts with a traditional cable.

Power Your Pedalboard

When the WL-50 receiver is powered with an optional BOSS PSA-S adaptor, its DC OUT connection can also distribute power to additional pedals using an optional PCS-20A daisy-chain cable.

That can help keep a smaller pedalboard tidy without requiring another dedicated power connection just for the wireless receiver.

The receiver can alternatively operate from two AA batteries, giving you approximately seven hours of continuous wireless use on current-spec units.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there noticeable delay with the BOSS WL-50?

BOSS rates the system at just 2.3ms latency, which is extremely low for a digital wireless guitar system and should feel natural while playing.

How far can I move from the receiver?

BOSS specifies a maximum range of approximately 20 metres / 65 feet with clear line of sight. Actual range can vary depending on the environment and wireless conditions.

Does the WL-50 automatically choose a wireless channel?

Yes. Docking the transmitter establishes the wireless connection automatically, so there's no need to manually search through channels before playing.

Can I still use a normal guitar cable?

Yes. The WL-50 has a conventional 1/4" input, so you can plug your guitar into the receiver with a normal cable without removing the WL-50 from your pedalboard.

Can I charge the transmitter in the receiver?

Yes, but the receiver needs to be powered from a compatible BOSS PSA-S adaptor for dock charging. The WL-T transmitter can alternatively be charged directly via Micro-USB.

Does the WL-50 come with a power supply?

This preloved example does not include the PSA adaptor. A compatible BOSS PSA-S series adaptor can be purchased separately.

Can I replace the transmitter if it gets lost or damaged?

Yes. BOSS sells the WL-T transmitter separately, and it is compatible with the WL-50.

Our Take

The BOSS WL-50 is still a really clever wireless solution if you already use a pedalboard.

Rather than adding another box sitting beside your board, the receiver becomes part of the pedal chain. The transmitter docks directly into it, setup is automatic, and you've still got a conventional cable input available if you ever need it.

For rehearsals and gigs, it's also surprisingly useful being able to walk out in front of your amp or PA during soundcheck and actually hear what everyone else is hearing.

This preloved example has been tested in-house and is ready to go.
