Fender Unveils the New Standard Series at NAMM 2025

Fender has kicked off NAMM 2025 with a series of major announcements, but one of the biggest surprises is the launch of the Fender Standard Series—a brand-new lineup of sub-$1000 guitars and basses, now manufactured in Indonesia.

Fender has a long history of producing instruments outside the U.S., and this latest move reinforces their confidence in the facility, following the release of the Fender-branded Tom DeLonge Starcaster.

What’s in the Fender Standard Series?

As the name suggests, the Fender Standard Series brings a familiar yet refined approach to its lineup, which includes a Stratocaster, HSS Strat, Telecaster, Jazz Bass, and Precision Bass. Each model features:

  • Modern "C"-shaped necks for smooth playability
  • Fender Standard pickups for classic tone
  • A selection of timeless finishes like Butterscotch Blonde (Telecaster), Sunburst (Stratocaster), and Black (basses)
  • A few bold color choices, including Aqua Marine Metallic and Candy Cola

According to Fender, this new range is designed to offer affordable, accessible, and inspiring instruments for players at all levels:

“Built to accompany players on their formative musical adventures, the Fender Standard Series delivers the approachable playability and inspiring tone that made Fender an icon of rock & roll.”

A Uniform Price & Fender’s Vision

Each model in the Standard Series—along with new Acoustasonic releases—comes in at $999 RRP, a strategic price point that reflects Fender’s commitment to accessibility.

Speaking at NAMM 2025, Fender’s Executive VP of Product, Justin Norvell, shed light on the reasoning behind the new series:

“This has been in development for a couple of years. Fender has always aimed to be accessible, and while Squier has its place, there was a gap between Squier’s ceiling and the Player Series’ increasing price. The Standard Series bridges that gap.”

With this launch, Fender is making its legendary instruments more attainable than ever, ensuring that players of all backgrounds can experience the brand’s iconic feel and tone.
