Description
KATOH EV5 Evolution Classical
The Katoh EV5 Evolution Classical is a modern take on the traditional nylon-string guitar, pairing classic tonewoods with a slightly narrower nut and radiused fingerboard for a more familiar feel under the hand. It is a great choice for players moving across from steel-string acoustic or electric guitar who still want a proper classical voice and nylon-string response.
Spruce Top with Sapele Mahogany Back & Sides
The spruce top gives the EV5 clarity and articulation, while the sapele mahogany back and sides add warmth and body. The combination keeps the guitar balanced and responsive across fingerstyle, classical repertoire and contemporary nylon-string playing.
Radiused Rosewood Fingerboard
Unlike a traditional flat classical fingerboard, the EV5 uses a radiused rosewood fingerboard. Combined with the 48mm nut width, it gives the neck a more approachable feel for players used to modern acoustic and electric guitars.
650mm Classical Scale
The full 650mm scale length retains the familiar tension and response of a traditional full-size classical guitar, while the narrower nut and radiused board make the overall playing experience feel more contemporary.
Bone Nut & Saddle
A bone nut and saddle help with string-to-body energy transfer, note definition and tuning stability. The satin finish also keeps the instrument feeling smooth and natural in the hands.

Who Is It For?
The EV5 is especially well suited to players who want nylon-string tone but prefer a slightly more modern neck feel. It works well for classical study, fingerstyle, songwriting, Latin styles and acoustic players looking to add a nylon-string guitar to their setup.
Our Take
The radiused fingerboard and 48mm nut are what make the EV5 stand out. It keeps the feel and scale length of a proper classical guitar, but makes the transition easier for players coming from steel-string or electric guitar.
