The Fulltone Octafuzz is Michael Fuller’s take on the classic Tycobrahe Octavia-style octave fuzz — the kind of circuit associated with aggressive upper-octave harmonics, cutting lead tones and that unmistakable Hendrix-style octave effect.
Rather than a smooth modern pitch shifter, the Octafuzz is raw, dynamic and very dependent on how you play it. Neck pickup, rolled-back tone control and single-note lines above the 12th fret bring out the octave effect most strongly, while harder settings push it into thick, compressed fuzz territory.
Classic Octave-Up Fuzz Character
The Octafuzz circuit was developed as a recreation of the Tycobrahe Octavia concept, using a transformer-based octave section and germanium-transistor architecture to produce a sharp, vocal upper octave layered over fuzz.
Dynamic & Interactive
This style of octave fuzz reacts strongly to guitar volume, pickup choice and picking position. It can sound smoother and more vocal with the neck pickup, or harsher and more aggressive with bridge pickups and higher gain settings.
Octave & Fuzz Tones
Later Octafuzz versions added the ability to switch the octave section out for a more direct heavy-fuzz sound.
