Shop electric guitars online across Australia or visit Colemans Music South Melbourne to try different models in person. We stock new, preloved and vintage electric guitars for beginners, gigging musicians, collectors and players ready to upgrade.
Explore guitars from Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Gretsch, Squier, Schecter, JET, Spira, Nik Huber and other respected brands. From classic Stratocaster and Telecaster designs to single-cuts, semi-hollows, modern metal guitars and unusual used finds, there is plenty to compare.
As an independent, family-owned Australian music store, we take a practical approach to helping you choose. Neck shape, scale length, pickup type, weight and setup all affect the way a guitar feels and responds. Our team can help you find an instrument that suits your music, budget and playing style.
Our Vintage, Used & Rare range is an important part of what makes Colemans different. Trade-ins, older Japanese models, discontinued finishes, custom instruments and player-grade guitars arrive regularly, so the available selection is always changing.
Popular Electric Guitar Styles
Electric guitars can feel and sound very different depending on their body shape, neck, scale length and pickup configuration. Popular choices include:
Some players prefer the clarity and response of single-coil pickups, while others want the thicker sound and reduced noise of humbuckers. The right choice depends on the music you play, the feel you prefer and the sound you want from your amplifier.
New, Used, Traded and Upgraded
A place for players — new, used, traded, upgraded.
A new electric guitar is a great choice if you want current specifications, factory-fresh condition and a clean starting point. A preloved guitar can offer strong value, older specifications, a discontinued finish or the comfortable feel of an instrument that has already been played.
Our used and preloved electric guitars are checked over by our in-house team before reaching the showroom or website. Because much of this stock comes through trade-ins and private purchases, the range changes regularly.
If you are buying your first electric guitar or comparing different body shapes, neck profiles and pickup configurations, our buyer’s guide explains the important differences in clear, practical terms.

Electric Guitar Setups, Servicing and Repairs
A professional setup can make a noticeable difference to how an electric guitar plays, tunes and responds.
We offer restringing, setups and guitar repairs in South Melbourne. Whether your guitar needs easier playability, improved tuning stability, new strings or general maintenance, our team can help keep it playing properly.
A good beginner electric guitar should feel comfortable, stay in tune and suit the music you want to play. Strat-style and double-cut guitars are popular starting points because they are generally comfortable, versatile and easy to get along with.
What is the difference between single-coil pickups and humbuckers?
Single-coil pickups generally sound brighter, clearer and more open. Humbuckers produce a thicker, fuller sound with less background noise. Neither is automatically better; the right choice depends on your playing style and preferred sound.
Should I buy a new or used electric guitar?
Choose new if you want current specifications and factory-fresh condition. Consider used if you want strong value, an older model, a discontinued finish or a guitar with more individual character.
Do you sell used and vintage electric guitars?
Yes. We regularly stock preloved, traded, vintage and rare electric guitars alongside our new range. Because these instruments are usually one-off pieces, availability changes frequently.
