The Kingsnake Curtis Slim Body P90 Single Cut is a unique hollowbody electric guitar designed to capture the rich character of vintage jazz and blues guitars while delivering modern playability and amplified performance. With its slim 16" hollow body, vintage-inspired P-90 pickups, and lightweight construction, the Curtis offers a distinctive tone that sits beautifully between a fully hollow guitar and a semi-hollow design.
Kingsnake developed the Curtis with a clear goal: to create a guitar that preserves the full acoustic feel of a hollowbody while producing a focused, powerful amplified tone. The result is an instrument that delivers warmth, clarity, and a strong midrange core that works beautifully across a wide range of musical styles.
Whether played clean or with a touch of overdrive, the Curtis responds dynamically, producing a thick, articulate tone when clean and a punchy, focused sound when pushed into crunch. It is particularly well suited to rhythm-driven styles including jazz, blues, blues rock, rock & roll, country rock, and folk rock.
Detroit One Block Construction
A key element of the Curtis design is the Detroit One Block system, engineered to improve sustain and tonal focus in a fully hollow guitar. A 15mm thick spruce block is positioned behind the bridge to provide additional core and sustain while maintaining the airy resonance of a hollowbody instrument.
This clever construction places the Curtis tonally between a traditional hollowbody and a semi-hollow guitar, delivering excellent articulation, strong sustain, and outstanding comping response.
The body uses a three-ply maple / spruce / maple construction, similar to vintage hollowbody designs, but finished thinner to increase responsiveness and improve dynamic feel when played through an amplifier.
Vintage-Inspired P-90 Pickups
The Curtis features a pair of Kingsnake TB-1 P-90 pickups, carefully designed to provide classic single-coil character with balanced response.

Neck Pickup: Alnico 5 magnet with slightly fewer windings to keep the bass tight and prevent excessive boominess.

Bridge Pickup: Alnico 4 magnet with slightly higher windings for added power and crisp midrange presence.
Both pickups are wax potted to reduce feedback, ensuring clarity even at higher stage volumes.
Lightweight Hollowbody with Vintage Feel
The Curtis Slim Body is designed for exceptional comfort and resonance. Its 1.75" thin body depth provides excellent ergonomics while maintaining the acoustic character of a full hollow guitar.
Finished in thin nitrocellulose lacquer, the coating is significantly thinner than modern polyester finishes, allowing the body and neck to resonate more freely while providing a classic vintage look and feel.
The result is a lightweight instrument with a lively, ringing tone and effortless playability.
Hardware Designed for Stability and Tone
The Curtis features thoughtful hardware choices designed to maximise tuning stability and tonal character.
A rosewood Tune-O-style bridge mounted on pins prevents movement during aggressive playing, while the custom trapeze tailpiece made from high-mass brass enhances string vibration and sustain.
Combined with Gotoh SD-90 tuners, the Curtis offers reliable tuning stability and smooth performance.
