PRELOVED MONTE ALLUMS OD-308 Overdrive / Distortion

The Monte Allums OD-308 is a boutique overdrive/distortion designed around a heavily reworked RAT-style circuit. Rather than being a straight clone, Monte Allums changed the gain structure, clipping and voicing to deliver a smoother, more focused response with rich harmonics and less of the fuzzy, loose character that can appear at higher gain settings.
Built in the USA and centred around the classic LM308 op-amp, the OD-308 is designed to cover three distinct jobs: fat overdrive/distortion, a more focused harmonic gain sound and a clean boost.
Three Distinct Gain Modes
The 3-way toggle is the heart of the OD-308. FAT mode uses LED clipping for a thicker, smoother and more harmonically rich drive. FINE mode uses 1N4002 diode clipping for a tighter, more focused response with strong harmonic content. The centre BOOST mode lifts the clipping diodes for a cleaner, higher-output boost with plenty of crunch available when pushed.
LM308-Based Circuit
The OD-308 name refers directly to the LM308 chip used in the circuit. That op-amp is a big part of the pedal's RAT-family DNA, but the surrounding circuit was extensively changed by Monte Allums to create a more refined and dynamic overdrive/distortion voice.
Simple Controls, Wide Range
The control layout is straightforward with OD, EQ and Volume, making it easy to move from edge-of-breakup tones through to thicker distortion without a lot of menu-diving or secondary controls.
Hand-Built Boutique Design
Monte Allums built the assembled OD-308 pedals himself using hand-wired PCB layouts and high-quality components. That gives the pedal a genuine small-builder feel and makes used examples interesting for players who like more obscure boutique drive pedals.
