Description
PRELOVED GRETSCH Electromatic Premier Jet – Black
Preloved condition.
The Gretsch Electromatic Premier Jet is a much more modern take on the classic Jet formula, combining the familiar single-cut Gretsch silhouette with higher-output humbuckers, locking hardware, a compound-radius ebony fingerboard and a clever onboard filter circuit.
Finished in Black / Onyx Storm, it keeps plenty of traditional Gretsch visual character, but under the hood it is aimed squarely at players who want a tighter, more aggressive and more versatile Jet than the traditional Filter’Tron-equipped models.
The chambered mahogany body with maple top keeps the guitar lively and resonant without making it feel excessively heavy, while the contoured body, rounded heel and modern neck specification make this one of the more comfortable and performance-focused Jet designs Gretsch has produced.
A Modern Take on the Gretsch Jet
The Premier Jet sits within the Gretsch Electromatic Collection, but it is quite different from the more vintage-inspired Electromatic Jet models.
Rather than simply recreating an older Gretsch design, the Premier Jet adds modern features including a 10"–14" compound-radius ebony fingerboard, locking tuners, locking strap buttons, high-output Sphera Twin Six humbuckers and a sculpted body designed to improve comfort and upper-fret access.
It still feels unmistakably like a Jet, but it is clearly aimed at players who want more output, tighter low-end response and a faster overall feel.
Chambered Mahogany Body with Maple Top
The body is built from chambered mahogany with a maple top, giving the guitar the punch and sustain associated with a solidbody while retaining some of the openness and resonance that chambering can bring.
The maple top helps add attack and definition, while the mahogany body contributes warmth and midrange weight.
Gretsch has also added modern comfort shaping, including a sculpted forearm contour and rounded heel, making the guitar noticeably more comfortable against the body than a more traditionally carved Jet.
Sphera Twin Six Humbuckers
The Premier Jet is fitted with a pair of Gretsch Sphera Twin Six humbuckers.
These are higher-output pickups than traditional Gretsch Filter’Trons, designed to deliver a thicker, more powerful sound with plenty of definition under gain.
The three-way toggle gives you the familiar layout:
- Bridge pickup
- Bridge and neck pickups together
- Neck pickup
The bridge pickup has the punch and focus needed for heavier rhythm playing, while the neck pickup offers a broader, warmer voice for leads and cleaner sounds.
Lumen Filter and No-Load Tone Controls
One of the standout features is the Lumen Filter, activated via the push/pull Master Volume control.
The Lumen Filter is designed to tighten the low end and clean up the signal, particularly useful when using higher-gain amp settings or lower tunings where the bottom end can otherwise become loose or congested.
You also get:
- Master Volume with treble-bleed circuit
- Separate no-load Tone control for the neck pickup
- Separate no-load Tone control for the bridge pickup
- Push/pull Master Volume to engage the Lumen Filter
The no-load tone controls can effectively remove themselves from the circuit at maximum, giving the pickups their most direct and open response.
Compound-Radius Ebony Fingerboard
The mahogany neck uses Gretsch’s Performance “C” profile, paired with a bound ebony fingerboard and a 10"–14" compound radius.
That means the board starts slightly rounder near the nut for comfortable chord work and gradually flattens out higher up the neck, making bends and lead playing easier as you move toward the upper frets.
The guitar has 22 medium-jumbo frets, Pearloid Neo-Classic Thumbnail inlays and Luminlay side dots for easier visibility on darker stages.
Locking Hardware
Hardware is decidedly modern, with a LockDown locking bridge, sealed locking tuners and locking strap buttons.
The combination gives the Premier Jet a very solid, dependable feel and makes it particularly well suited to players who want a Gretsch that can handle regular gigging, heavier playing styles and frequent string changes without fuss.
A Graph Tech NuBone nut is also fitted for smooth string movement and reliable tuning performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Gretsch Premier Jet a traditional Filter’Tron Jet?
No. The Premier Jet is a more modern design and uses Sphera Twin Six humbuckers rather than traditional Filter’Trons. It has more output and a thicker, more aggressive response.
What does the Lumen Filter do?
The Lumen Filter tightens the low-end response, which is particularly useful for high-gain sounds, lower tunings and modern rhythm playing where extra definition is useful.
Does the Premier Jet have locking tuners?
Yes. It features sealed locking tuners, along with a LockDown locking bridge and locking strap buttons.
What is the fingerboard radius?
The Premier Jet uses a 10"–14" compound-radius ebony fingerboard. It is rounder near the nut and becomes flatter toward the upper frets.
Is the body chambered?
Yes. The body uses chambered mahogany with a maple top, helping balance resonance, weight and sustain.
Is this a good Gretsch for heavier music?
It certainly can be. The higher-output humbuckers, Lumen Filter, locking hardware and flatter upper fingerboard radius make the Premier Jet particularly well suited to rock, hard rock and heavier styles while still covering clean and lower-gain sounds comfortably.
This PRELOVED Gretsch Premier Jet in Black is a great option for players who like the Gretsch Jet shape but want a more modern neck, higher-output pickups and a tighter, more performance-focused electronics package.
