A true relic from the golden era of Japanese pedal design, the Roland Bee Baa AF-100 is as bold and bizarre as its name suggests. Released in the early 1970s, this iconic fuzz and treble booster combo was in production from around 1972 to 1979, long before the Boss brand took over Roland’s effects game. With its unmistakable three-footswitch layout, aggressive fuzz tones, and instantly recognisable enclosure, the Bee Baa remains one of the most collectible pedals of its era.
Designed to deliver thick, saturated fuzz alongside a biting treble boost, the Bee Baa found favour with players chasing that wild, unruly character that defined much of 70s rock. It can go from raspy, broken-amp mayhem to searing leads with just a flick of the toggle. The fuzz circuit features a dual-stage gain structure with an internal mid-scoop, while the treble boost section can push your amp into chimey breakup or screaming sustain.
This particular unit is in good condition with some cosmetic wear typical of a 40+ year-old pedal, but it’s all original and fully functional. The serial number sticker is no longer present, which is common for older units, but the circuit and enclosure are consistent with early-to-mid production models.
