The Takamine CP5M-SE is a rare Japanese-made acoustic-electric from Takamine’s Pro Series era, combining premium solid timbers with the company’s stage-proven pickup system. With a solid Bearclaw Engelmann spruce top and solid striped ebony back and sides, it is a seriously distinctive instrument both visually and tonally.
Takamine has since discontinued the CP5M-SE, which adds to its appeal for players looking for something outside the current catalogue. The combination of premium woods, ornate detailing and the CTP-3 CoolTube system makes this a guitar aimed squarely at professional live and studio use.
Solid Bearclaw Engelmann Spruce Top
The solid Engelmann spruce top gives the CP5M-SE a responsive, dynamic feel with strong clarity and a slightly softer attack than many Sitka-topped acoustics. The visible bearclaw figuring also gives the guitar a highly individual look.
Solid Striped Ebony Back & Sides

The CP5M-SE is equipped with Takamine’s CTP-3 CoolTube preamp and Palathetic pickup system. The CoolTube uses a low-voltage 12AU7 dual-triode tube for a warmer, fuller amplified response and includes 3-band EQ, sweepable mid control, notch filtering and an onboard tuner.

Built in Japan, the CP5M-SE features a mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, split bone saddle and premium decorative appointments including Hawaiian koa binding, abalone rosette work and pearl/abalone position markers.
