The Universal Audio UAFX Lion '68 Super Lead Amp is a premium amp-emulator pedal built to recreate the sound, response and feel of classic late-'60s British 100-watt plexi amplifiers. Rather than offering a huge menu of unrelated models, Lion '68 focuses on three distinct plexi-style voices and does them in serious depth.
From bright, punchy cleans and edge-of-breakup rhythm tones through to saturated hot-rodded rock sounds, the Lion '68 is designed to work as the amp at the end of your pedalboard, direct into a PA or audio interface, or as a tone-shaping preamp in front of a traditional guitar amp.
Three Classic Plexi Voices
The Super Lead setting delivers the aggressive upper-mid bite, tight low end and familiar crunch associated with a late-'60s high-powered British head. Super Bass gives you a slightly rounder, more open response with extra clean headroom and a softer attack, while Brown moves into hot-rodded territory with more gain, sag and saturation.
UAFX Dual-Engine Amp Modelling
Universal Audio uses its powerful UAFX dual-engine processing to model the complete amplifier response rather than just an EQ curve. The result is designed to react to picking dynamics, guitar volume changes and pedals placed in front much more like a real tube amplifier.
Cab, Mic & Room Modelling
Built-in speaker cabinet, microphone and room emulations are derived from Universal Audio's OX Amp Top Box technology. This makes the Lion '68 particularly useful for direct recording and stage setups where you want a finished, mic'd-amp sound without carrying an amplifier and cabinet.
Built-In Boosts & Amp Mods
The pedal includes classic boost and hot-rod options inspired by familiar vintage studio and guitar-rig tricks, allowing you to push the modeled amps harder for extra sustain, bite and lead gain without adding another drive pedal.
Flexible Live & Studio Use
You can run Lion '68 directly into an audio interface, FRFR speaker or front-of-house system, or bypass the cabinet and microphone modelling and use the pedal into a conventional guitar amp. The UAFX Control app adds deeper editing, preset management, noise-gate options and additional features.
Modern Control Options
With current firmware, Lion '68 supports MIDI over USB, improved Bluetooth and hardwired app connections, along with expanded footswitch modes and access to up to four onboard amp presets plus Live Mode.
