Description
PRELOVED XOTIC BB Preamp
Preloved condition.
The Xotic BB Preamp is one of those overdrive pedals that earned its reputation by being useful in almost any rig. It can work as a strong clean boost, a smooth low-to-medium gain overdrive, or a tone-shaping preamp in front of an already-driven amplifier.
Its big strength is control. With more than 30dB of available boost, a pre-gain stage and an active 2-band EQ, the BB Preamp can stay clear and articulate or move into a smooth, compressed overdrive without getting harsh or overly fuzzy.
From Clean Boost to Smooth Overdrive
The BB Preamp uses a dedicated pre-gain stage that lets you move from a relatively clean, high-headroom push through to a warmer and more compressed overdrive sound. That makes it useful both as an always-on tone enhancer and as a standalone drive pedal.
30dB+ of Boost
There is plenty of output available for pushing the front end of a tube amp or lifting another drive pedal. Xotic rates the circuit for more than 30dB of clean boost, giving it enough level to add serious punch and sustain when needed.
Active Bass & Treble EQ
The Bass and Treble controls are active and offer approximately ±15dB of adjustment. This gives the BB much more tone-shaping range than a typical single-knob overdrive and makes it easier to match to different guitars, amps and pedalboard setups.
True Bypass & Simple Controls
The control layout is straightforward with Gain, Volume, Bass and Treble. True bypass switching keeps the pedal out of the signal path when disengaged, while standard 9V power makes it easy to integrate into most boards.

Our Take
The BB Preamp is popular for a reason. It is smooth without feeling dull, has plenty of output, and the active EQ makes it far easier to tailor than many classic-style overdrives. It is one of those pedals that can quietly become a permanent part of a board.
